Austin Hays Honored to Make First All-Star Team

Orioles Outfielder Recognized for Strong Performance

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Austin Hays made history on June 22, 2022, by becoming the first player in the American League to hit for the cycle this season. The 27-year-old achieved the feat in a 7-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Hays' cycle began with a single to right field in the first inning, followed by a double to left field in the third inning. He completed the cycle with a triple to center field in the fifth inning and a solo home run to left field in the seventh inning. Hays also finished the game with three runs scored and two RBIs.

Hays' performance earned him a spot on the American League All-Star team for the first time in his career. He was selected as a reserve outfielder by AL manager Dusty Baker.

"It's an honor to be selected to the All-Star team," said Hays. "It's a dream come true and something I've always wanted to accomplish. It's a testament to the hard work I've put in and the support of my teammates and coaches."

Hays is batting .290 with 14 home runs and 42 RBIs in 79 games this season. He is a key part of the Orioles' offense, which is currently in contention for a wild card spot.

The All-Star Game will be played at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on July 19, 2022.
